About
“Inquire. Illuminate. Ignite” drives me to explore ideas deeply, share insights passionately, and facilitate transformative learning experiences. My career is fuelled by a fascination with technology, semantics, and linked data, guiding my research from its inception to high-profile engagements, and reinforcing my commitment to applying innovative solutions to real-world problems. I am dedicated to enhancing the student experience through research, relentless innovation, global collaboration, and strategic outreach, transforming contemporary education.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, an Honours degree in Computer Science, and a PhD in Software Engineering. My research career began where my doctorate did — studying how developers comprehend and inspect code — before I moved into spatial data infrastructures and the semantic web. Those tools have since carried me into the areas that drive my work today: digital cultural heritage, assistive technology, and the practice of higher education itself.
Beyond work
I love books and reading. I like a full bookshelf that is diverse and ever expanding, not only in size but also in content. Sitting, reflecting and sipping on a G&T is one of my great pastimes. Add a BBQ with friends and — most importantly — time with my wife and kids (and their partners), and life is good. Tragically, I also love writing code and building Apps.
